Scotiabank Q3 Adjusted Earnings Rise, Beat FactSet Estimates; Shares Gain in US Premarket

The Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS.TO, BNS) reported Q3 adjusted diluted earnings of C$2.28 per share, up from C$1.88 a year earlier and above the C$2.10 consensus estimate compiled by FactSet.

Adjusted net income rose 18% year over year to C$2.97 billion.

Revenue for the three months ended July 31 increased to C$10.54 billion from C$9.49 billion. The consensus on FactSet was for C$9.98 billion.

The bank also declared a dividend of C$1.14 per common share, unchanged from the previous quarter.

Shares closed down C$0.28 at C$120.29 in Toronto on Monday but were up 1% in US premarket trading Tuesday.

Theralase Technologies Closes C$3.6 Million Private Placement

Theralase Technologies (TLT.V) after trade Monday said it closed a C$3.6-million private placement, issuing 14.8-million units at C$0.24 each.Each unit includes a share and one warrant and a warrant expiring in May, 2031 with each warrant to buy another share for C$0.32.The company plans to use the funds to complete safety studies for its cancer treatment Rutherrin and its cold sore treatment Ruvidar, as well as for working capital and general corporate purposes, it said.The warrants are set to begin trading on the TSX Venture Exchange around Aug. 27, subject to final approval, according to the statement.

Badger Infrastructure Solutions (BDGI.TO) after trade Monday said the Toronto Stock Exchange accepted its notice to conduct a share buyback program.The company may buy back up to 2.96-million shares from Aug. 27, for one year.Under its current normal course issuer bid, which expires tomorrow, Badger purchased 65,162 shares out of an allowed 2.91-million sharesBadger shares closed down C$0.91 to C$83.67 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
