Sakata Seed's Profit Surges 25% in Fiscal Year Ended May

Sakata Seed's (TYO:1377) profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 25% to 12.2 billion yen for the fiscal year ended May 31 from 9.71 billion yen a year earlier.

The seed producer's basic earnings per share increased to 284.46 yen from 222.58 yen a year ago, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Monday.

Net sales jumped 12% to 104.3 billion yen from 92.9 billion yen in the prior year.

For the fiscal year ending May 31, 2027, the company expects attributable profit of 10 billion yen, basic EPS of 236.63 yen, and net sales of 110 billion yen.

In a separate filing, Sakata Seed declared a year-end dividend of 50 yen, exceeding its earlier forecast of 40 yen and higher than the 45 yen paid a year ago.

The total dividend payment amounts to 2.12 billion yen, payable from retained earnings on Aug. 26.

Sakata Seed plans to pay interim and year-end dividends of 40 yen and 50 yen per share, respectively, for the year, which is higher than the amounts paid in the year-ago period.
