Sable Offshore (SOC) was fined $1.45 million after a federal court found it violated a 2020 consent decree by restarting the Santa Ynez Pipeline System without California authorization, the company said in a Monday filing.
The court declined to order a shutdown of Sable's onshore pipeline segments, noting that the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration had approved its restart plan and the company was no longer violating the decree.
The court also ruled that a Defense Production Act order prevents California's Parks Department from taking legal action to block Sable's onshore pipeline operations.
