The S&P/TSX Composite Index, is up near 107 points mid-morning Tuesday with most sectors higher.
Utilities and telecommunications are the best performers, gaining 1.1% each, followed by the industrials sector, up 0.8%.
Limiting gains is information technology, down 0.8%.
The S&P/TSX Battery Metals Index, which includes issues listed both on the TSX and TSX Venture Exchange, was 4.1%, on last look.
In stocks, Pet Valu (PET.TO), jumped nearly 10.4% to C$20.75, after it reported a second-quarter adjusted earnings beat earlier Tuesday.
Cannabis company Aurora Cannabis (ACB.TO) surged 20.4% to C$4.83 after Curaleaf (CURA.TO) announced its plans to acquire the company for $4.00 per share.
