The S&P/TSX Composite Index climbed another 52 points mid-morning Thursday, with sectors mixed.
The best performers on last look were the telecommunications and financials sectors, up 0.8% and 0.2%, respectively.
Limiting gains were declines in information technology, which fell 2%, and the healthcare sector, down 0.2%.
In stocks, Cascades (CAS.TO) touched a near 5-year high of C$15.44 per share, after it reported a second-quarter earnings beat this morning. Cascades shares were last seen up 7% to C$15.27 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
