Rise Gold (RISE.CN) is beginning a tungsten and gold exploration drilling program at the Idaho-Maryland Gold Project in Nevada County, California, it said Tuesday.
The program will test targets in the Union Hill and Brunswick areas of the mine both for tungsten and gold, said the company. It's expected to include eight core holes for a total of approximately 11,400 feet of drilling from two locations, added Rise Gold.
"The exploration program's main focus is to test areas of the historic Idaho-Maryland mine where tungsten is known to occur and was produced," said Chief Executive Officer David Watkinson. "While the Idaho-Maryland Mine is one of the richest gold mines historically in the U.S., it may also be important as a potential source of tungsten, a critical metal for the U.S. military."
The company's shares last traded July 13, closing at C$0.15 on the Canadian Securities Exchange.
