Redbook US same-store sales rose by 9.6% from a year earlier in the week ended Aug. 29 after a 9.1% year-over-year increase in the previous week.
Redbook noted that most companies reported strong back-to-school demand for children's and juniors' apparel and footwear.
"Shoppers are focusing on value and are shopping more at warehouse clubs and discount stores," Redbook said.
Through the fourth selling week for August, sales were up 8.7% compared with August 2025, slightly below the target for an 8.8% gain, Redbook said.
The early target for sales in September is 8.6% increase from the previous year, Redbook said.
Next week's report will be released on Wednesday, Sept. 9 due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday.
