Gross residential sales commission earned by the real estate industry fell 3.3% in the June quarter year-over-year to NZ$484 million, reflecting the generally flat market conditions, interest.co.nz reported on Tuesday.
However, the figure was up 15% compared to the 2024 June quarter.
The industry earned a little under NZ$2 billion in gross residential sales commissions in the 12 months to June, up 4.5% compared to the 12 months to June 2025, suggesting the real estate industry went into a slight downturn in the North Island and the upper half of the South Island in the second quarter of the year.
Total estimated commissions were lower in the June quarter compared to the prior corresponding period in all regions except Canterbury, the West Coast, Otago and Southland, reflecting more buoyant market conditions in those regions.
