Postmedia Network Canada (PNC-A.TO, PNC-B.TO) said after trade Tuesday it is exiting the flyer distribution business.
The company said it will gradually shut down flyer distribution operations across Canada beginning June 8, with a full exit expected by Aug. 31. The move will affect about 50 full-time and 200 part-time employees tied to the flyer distribution network.
"This transition reflects a clear focus on directing investment and resources towards areas of greatest impact and future opportunity, while strengthening the company's ability to serve communities and businesses across the country through our award-winning journalism and wider business portfolio," the company said.
The company added that it will support affected employees during the transition and is working with clients and partners to ensure a smooth shift as consumer habits continue to change.
