The Philippine government and Meta have agreed to strengthen cooperation on protecting children and young people online and tackling harmful content, disinformation and online violence, the Department of Information and Communications Technology said Thursday.
The parties will establish a technical working group to improve coordination and response times on harmful content, while Meta will provide a point of contact for Philippine authorities. Meta also reaffirmed its zero-tolerance approach to child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
Meta representatives will visit Manila to formalize the cooperation framework with the Philippine government, according to the department.
On Wednesday, the DICT said it will meet Roblox executives in Singapore to seek compliance with two remaining child-safety requirements, Philippines News Agency said.
Roblox has until October to integrate the Philippine National ID system for identity verification and establish a physical office in the country, the state-run news agency said.
