Malaysia's Petronas has secured a major 20-year LNG supply agreement with Japan's Jera for up to 2 million tonnes per annum beginning in 2028, the company said on Tuesday.
Deliveries will utilize Petronas' new generation of 174,000-cubic-meter LNG carriers, which feature enhanced emissions controls to comply with stricter International Maritime Organization standards.
Separately the company also restructured several key upstream oil and gas assets in Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak to optimize production and ensure long-term domestic energy security.
As part of this partnership-led strategy, EnQuest Petroleum Production Malaysia will assume operatorship and participating interests in the Balingian, SK8, and D35 Production Sharing Contracts, while joining the PM6/12 PSC as a non-operating partner.
