Permian Basin Could Become Top US Gas Producer by 2030

The Permian Basin could become the largest U.S. natural gas-producing region by the end of the decade, potentially overtaking the Marcellus as soon as 2030, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing Citi analysts.

The shift would make the Permian the leading U.S. gas basin, with production largely driven by oil economics, Bloomberg reported.

Permian gas prices were negative for four months this year as rising oil output boosted gas supplies and pipelines reached capacity, the report said.

Additional Permian supply could reduce the need for gas-focused basins to ramp production as LNG exports and data centers drive demand, Citi said, according to Bloomberg.

Par Pacific Reports Agreement to Sell Laramie Energy Assets

Par Pacific (PARR) said late Tuesday its 46%-owned Laramie Energy has struck a deal to sell substantially all of its oil and gas assets for $485 million in cash.The firm said it expects to receive about $146 million from the deal, with about $27.5 million payable on the fifth anniversary of the closing date.The company said it is also eligible to receive up to about $30 million of earn-out payments, and will exit its investment in Laramie. The deal is expected to close by year-end.

Shell Confirms Release of Initial Rig Slot for Aphrodite Project in Trinidad and Tobago

Shell (SHEL.L, SHELL.AS) confirmed that the initial rig slot booked for its Aphrodite offshore gas project in Trinidad and Tobago has been released, in response to reports that the project has been shelved.In an emailed statement sent toon Tuesday, the energy giant said it is in ongoing negotiations and will continue assessing the overall integrated project schedule to "identify opportunities to maintain the first gas schedule."Reports earlier on Monday said Shell was in disagreement with the country's National Gas Co. over the project's commercial terms.
