Shell Confirms Release of Initial Rig Slot for Aphrodite Project in Trinidad and Tobago

Shell (SHEL.L, SHELL.AS) confirmed that the initial rig slot booked for its Aphrodite offshore gas project in Trinidad and Tobago has been released, in response to reports that the project has been shelved.

In an emailed statement sent toon Tuesday, the energy giant said it is in ongoing negotiations and will continue assessing the overall integrated project schedule to "identify opportunities to maintain the first gas schedule."

Reports earlier on Monday said Shell was in disagreement with the country's National Gas Co. over the project's commercial terms.
