The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) raised its GDP growth outlook for Japan in 2026 to 0.8% from the 0.6% forecast issued in June, according to the organization's updated economic outlook published Wednesday.
The anticipated growth is still lower than the 1.2% GDP expansion in 2025.
The organization downgraded its 2027 growth forecast for Japan by 0.1 percentage point from the June forecast to 0.7%.
It expects headline inflation in Japan to reach 1.8% this year, unchanged from its previous forecast, and higher than the 3.2% rise in consumer prices in 2025.
Inflation is predicted to increase to 2.6% in 2027, faster than the previous 2.2% guidance.
The OECD expects strong business investment, amid continued robust corporate profits and government consumption, to push Japan's growth in 2026 and 2027.
