The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) lowered its 2026 and 2027 gross domestic product growth estimates for Canada, as the country faces higher US tariffs amid a trade war.
Canada's GDP growth is now forecast at 0.9% this year and at 1.3% in 2027, according to the OECD's latest Economic Outlook report published Wednesday. This estimate is 0.3 percentage point and 0.4 percentage point weaker, respectively, than predictions given in June.
The OECD now projects Canada's headline inflation to rise by 0.4 percentage point to 2.8% this year and by 0.5% percentage point to 2.5% in 2027.
