OECD Lifts Swiss Economic Growth Forecast for 2026, Warns Outlook Clouded by Uncertainty

By

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development raised its 2026 economic growth estimate for Switzerland but warned that the outlook is clouded by uncertainty related to trade policies and the geopolitical landscape.

In the OECD's latest Economic Survey report published Tuesday, the country's real gross domestic product, not adjusted for sporting events, is now forecast to increase 2% in 2026 before growth eases to 1.4% in 2027. In June, Swiss GDP growth was estimated by the OECD at 1.1% in 2026 and 1.5% in 2027.

Downside risks to the economic outlook, however, have increased amid geopolitical uncertainty and elevated energy prices arising from the ongoing war in the Middle East, the OECD noted. Despite this, inflationary pressures are anticipated to remain low, partly due to the Swiss economy's low energy intensity.
