The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development upwardly adjusted its 2026 economic growth estimate for Italy despite higher energy prices and persistent uncertainty over the ongoing war in the Middle East.
In its latest Economic Outlook report published Wednesday, the OECD said it now expects the country's gross domestic product to grow 0.9% in 2026, up by 0.4 percentage points from its forecast in June. For 2027, the GDP growth projection remains unchanged at 0.6%.
The headline inflation rate in Italy is still anticipated to reach 3% in 2026. Meanwhile, the headline inflation forecast for 2027 now stands at 2.6%, 0.4 percentage points higher than the OECD's previous estimate.
