The US National Weather Service forecast continued hot temperatures and high humidity in a majority of east Texas into the mid-Mississippi Valley this week.
The region stretching from the central Plains into the upper Midwest and Four Corners states are expected to experience intermittent heavy to excessive rainfall through Friday, potentially resulting in areas of flooding.
The NWS issued a severe thunderstorm warning early Tuesday for Iowa's Atlantic and areas near Denison. MidAmerican Energy Company, a unit of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, and Alliant Energy (LNT) are the major power suppliers in the state.
A freeze warning was raised for Jackson and Afton in Wyoming, which mostly falls under the service area of Rocky Mountain Power.
