The US National Weather Service on Wednesday said south-central Texas is expected to experience widespread, life-threatening flash flooding at least until Friday.
The Texas Hill Country region is likely to encounter catastrophic river flooding and rapid level increases in small streams, arroyos, and typically dry washes, the agency said.
In Texas, the NWS issued a flash flood warning early Thursday for Rocksprings, Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Brownwood, and Uvalde, which was also placed under a tornado warning. A flood warning was raised for Langtry, Junction, San Antonio, Pearsall, Carrizo Springs, Pearsall, Cotulla, Karnes City, George West, and Bay City. American Electric Power's (AEP) Texas unit is among the primary service provider in these places.
A red flag warning was issued for Idaho's Caldwell, Boise City, Mountain Home, Jerome, and Twin Falls, primarily served by Idacorp's (IDA) Idaho Power.
A similar warning was raised for Washington's Wenatchee, Ellensburg, Moses Lake, Yakima, Connell, Sunnyside, Pasco, Walla Walla, Mount Adams, Goldendale, Yakima, Forks, Port Angeles, and areas near Centralia, Toledo, Bellingham, Seattle, Tacoma, and Everett. PacifiCorp's Pacific Power, Avista (AVA) unit Avista Utilities and Puget Sound Energy are among the primary electricity service providers in the state.
Affected areas in Oregon include The Dalles, Maupin, Condon, Fossil, Hermiston, and Pendleton, also served by Pacific Power.
The NWS issued extreme heat warnings for Minnesota's Minneapolis, St. Paul, and areas near Red Wing, where Xcel Energy (XEL) is the prominent electricity provider; and parts of Yuma and Parker in Arizona, majorly served by Pinnacle West Capital (PNW) unit Arizona Public Service.
In California, a similar warning was raised for Palm Springs, Blythe, El Centro Imperium, Campo, El Cajon, Mount Laguna, Temecula, Julian Borrego Springs, Indio, Escondido, San Clemente, Hemet, Beaumont, Santa Ana, San Bernardino, Anaheim, Chino, Ontario, Wrightwood, Burbank, Big Bear Lake, Los Angeles, Mount Laguna, Riverside, Santa Clarita, Malibu, Palmdale, Santa Barbara, Long Beach, Oxnard, and areas near Santa Maria. A red flag warning was issued for parts of Santa Barbara.
PG&E (PCG) subsidiary Pacific Gas and Electric, Edison International's (EIX) Southern California Edison, and Sempra Energy (SRE) unit San Diego Gas & Electric are the major electricity service providers in these places.
The NWS also issued flood warnings for certain areas of Illinois, Iowa, and Louisiana.
