The Norwegian Ministry of Energy expects to issue new drilling licenses for an expanded offshore exploration zone by early next year based on 21 applications it received for the 2026 licensing round.
Equinor (EQNR), ConocoPhillips (COP), and TotalEnergies (TTE) are among the companies to have submitted bids by the Sept. 1 deadline, the ministry said Friday.
The ministry expanded its predefined drilling area in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea, and the Barents Sea by 70 blocks.
