New Zealand's seasonally adjusted total building volume rose 4.8% in the June quarter compared with the March quarter, Friday's data from Stats NZ showed.
Residential building volume rose 4.8%, while non-residential volume increased 3.3%.
Meanwhile, excluding cost changes or seasonal effects, the actual value of building work rose 5.2% year on year to NZ$8.2 billion in the June quarter.
Residential building work increased 11% to NZ$5.2 billion, while non-residential work fell 3.4% to NZ$2.9 billion.
The actual value of total building work increased across most regions, led by a 3.7% rise in Auckland to NZ$3.2 billion.
