Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' Unit Launches Coast Guard Patrol Vessel in Japan

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' (TYO:7011) unit Mitsubishi Shipbuilding launched its large patrol vessel, Yashima, following a naming ceremony at the Shimonoseki Shipyard in Japan, according to a Wednesday release.

The about 6,100-ton vessel, ordered in fiscal 2023, will undergo outfitting work, including installation of the hull equipment, engines, and electrical systems, before being delivered to the Japan Coast Guard during fiscal 2027.

The vessel is about 134 meters in length and 15.8 meters in width and will enhance Japan's maritime security capabilities.

China Southern Airlines Warns of Wider H1 Loss

China Southern Airlines (HKG:1055, SHA:600029) expects an attributable net loss of 3.47 billion yuan to 3.97 billion yuan for the first half, widening from 1.53 billion yuan a year earlier, according to a Tuesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.The company attributed the expected loss to sharply higher aviation fuel costs amid geopolitical tensions, despite growth in passenger traffic and revenue during the first half.Hong Kong-listed shares of the airline were down nearly 2% in Wednesday morning trade.
