South Korea's top five companies accounted for more than 40% of the country's total exports in the first quarter, Yonhap News reported Sunday, citing the Ministry of Data and Statistics.
The firms, including Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) and SK Hynix (KRX:000660), posted total outbound shipments of $95.7 billion, representing 43.5% of the country's total exports in the January to March period, the report said.
They raised exports by $50 billion in Q1 from a year earlier, accounting for 82.8% of the total export growth during the period, the report said.
