NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) is in talks to acquire Ambarella (AMBA), a designer of chips used in the camera technology for self-driving cars, the Financial Times reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Talks between NXP and Ambarella are ongoing, but a transaction is not guaranteed, the report said, citing the people.
NXP and Ambarella didn't immediately reply to requests for comment from.
Shares of Ambarella rose 17% in Friday trading, while NXP Semiconductors shares fell 4%.
