Market Chatter: MTR Sues Hong Kong Distributor of UK Beauty Brand Over Unpaid Store Rent

MTR (HKG:0066) has filed a suit against Sayles Retail, the Hong Kong distributor of UK beauty brand Opatra, over more than HK$347,000 in unpaid rent and other fees, the South China Morning Post reported Thursday.

According to court documents seen by the news outlet, Sayles Retail had not paid rent to MTR since July and stopped operating its store at Citylink Plaza in Sha Tin on Aug. 16 without consent.

MTR is seeking payment of the outstanding rent, annual interest of 3%, as well as legal fees and other costs, the report said.

MTR and Sayles Retail did not immediately respond to' request for comment.

Kafelaku Coffee Upsizes Private Placement to HK$11.6 Million

Kafelaku Coffee Holding (HKG:1869) has revised the terms for its private placement offering to raise HK$11.6 million, up from HK$11 million, according to a Wednesday bourse filing.The specialty coffee chain said it will now offer 282.1 million shares at HK$0.041 apiece, up from HK$0.039. The new offer price represents an 18% discount to the stock's last closing price.Kafelaku also extended the offering closing date to Sept. 23 from Sept. 2.Shares of the company are down 4% in open market trading on the HKEX.
