Korea Electric Power (KRX:015760) has suggested electricity fee prepayments of 25 trillion won from Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) and SK Hynix (KRX:000660), The Chosun Daily reported Thursday, citing a source and internal documents.
The prepayments, composed of 20 trillion won for Samsung Electronics and 5 trillion won for SK Hynix, will cover fees in the next five years, with the parties currently discussing terms such as interest rates, the report said.
The prepayments would help fund power grid construction for the Yongin and Hong semiconductor clusters and ease KEPCO's 210 trillion won debt burden, the report said.
Korea Electric Power, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix did not immediately respond to' request for comment.
