Construction has begun on a 271,000-cubic-meter liquefied natural gas carrier, China's state media reported Thursday.
The QC-Max vessel, built by Hudong-Zhonghua under China CSSC (SHA:600150), is set for delivery in 2028. With a length of 344 meters, it features an advanced membrane system to boost capacity, safety and efficiency, according to the report.
Compared to standard 174,000-cbm ships, the vessel offers a 57% capacity jump with a daily boil-off rate of just 0.087%. Its dual-fuel engine meets top emission standards, Xinhua News wrote.
Part of a Qatari LNG project, Hudong-Zhonghua has secured 36 vessel orders, including 24 of this ultra-large type, according to the report.
