Commodities trader Gunvor is in discussions to acquire natural gas-producing assets in the US from private equity-backed Silver Hill Energy for $1.2 billion to $1.5 billion, Reuters reported on Tuesday, citing industry sources.
The potential transaction centers on properties located in the Haynesville shale basin across Texas and Louisiana. If successful, the deal would further Gunvor's strategy to build an integrated US shale gas production and marketing business.
Western Natural, an oil and gas producer financially backed by Gunvor earlier in 2026, would operate the assets. However, discussions are at an early stage, and no final agreement has been reached.
The acquisition would mark Gunvor's second major push into the Haynesville basin this year. Gunvor did not immediately reply to' request for comment.
