Japanese technology group Fujitsu (TYO:6702) may soon stop mass-producing commodity-grade products for the artificial intelligence market, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday, citing Chief Financial Officer Takeshi Isobe.
The company plans to continue developing new hardware technologies needed for AI, the report said.
Fujitsu said its key criteria for selecting partners are their ability to create societal value via technology. The ICT company applies the same approach to IT services, adding that it may reconsider its current practice of separating hardware and services in earnings disclosures.
The company's net profit is expected to decline in the fiscal year ending March 2027 due to one-time asset sales, while operating profit is anticipated to jump 19% on an on-year basis, it said.
Shares of Fujitsu rose nearly 3% in recent trade.
