BP (BP) removed Chairman Albert Manifold, citing governance and oversight concerns, though Manifold rejected the company's account and said his dismissal came without explanation, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.

The concerns centered on Manifold's conduct toward employees, handling of sensitive information and efforts to bypass the board, which he denied as a "false narrative," according to the report.

Analysts said the departure could raise concerns about the pace and continuity of BP's turnaround efforts, Bloomberg added.
