Blackstone (BX) and Apollo Global Management (APO) were among a group of prominent financial institutions and private equity firms targeted by ransom-seeking hackers over the past month, Reuters reported Thursday, citing Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google and internet intelligence data it reviewed.
The hackers, who created websites in order to steal passwords from workers, also targeted Bridgewater Associates, Bain Capital, KKR (KKR), TPG (TPG), CME Group (CME) and Moody's (MCO), the report said, citing the data.
The companies did not immediately reply to requests for comment from.
