Japan said AI and semiconductors will carry significant weight in future mutual-benefit projects under its $550 billion U.S. investment initiative, Bloomberg News reported on Saturday, citing Trade Minister Ryosei Akazawa.
After meetings with U.S. officials, Akazawa told reporters that Japan will continue its work closely with the U.S. without giving details on the third project phase, the news wire said.
The investment framework, central to the tariff agreement securing 15% duties and lower auto levies, aims to drive Japanese capital into key US industries, the report said.
