Malaysia's unemployment rate rose by to 3% in April from 2.9% in March, the Department of Statistics Malaysia said in a note Thursday.
The figure exceeded the 2.9% forecast by Trading Economics.
The number of jobless people jumped 0.6% to 511,800 individuals in April from 509,000 in March.
