Malaysian Shares Rebound Mirroring Regional Gains

Malaysian shares ended in the green on Monday, reversing Friday's losses. The investor sentiment mirrored an upbeat regional performance.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, the main gauge of Malaysian stocks, gained 12.07 points to end 0.7% higher at 1,713.09.

In corporate news, Malaysian sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional sold shares worth 1.39 billion Malaysian ringgit in Tenaga Nasional (KLSE:TENAGA), Bloomberg reported, citing sources. On July 21, Khazanah placed 100 million shares of the state-owned power company for sale at 13.91 ringgit each, with settlement on July 24, sources told Bloomberg.

Shares of Zetrix AI (KLSE:ZETRIX) slid over 2% on today's close after it applied to Bursa Malaysia Securities for the listing and quotation of new shares to be issued under its dividend reinvestment plan.

Aneka Jaringan (KLSE:ANEKA) completed its acquisition of a 51% stake in P3 International after paying the purchase consideration to the vendor. Shares ended flat on Monday.

Infoline Tec Group Seeks Shareholder Nod to Acquire Buildings for New Head Office

Infoline Tec Group (KLSE:INFOTEC) is seeking shareholders' approval for its wholly-owned subsidiary, Infoline IT Solutions, to acquire two adjoining intermediate units from Huayi (SEA) and Orionis Technology, respectively, for a total of 18.6 Malaysian ringgit, according to a Monday filing to Bursa Malaysia.The investor approval will be sought at the upcoming extraordinary general meeting on Aug. 28.The company's shares were down nearly 6% in recent trade.The acquired units will be used to set up the company's new head office. Both acquisitions will be done on a 99-year lease up to Oct. 18, 2106.Infoline's board is also seeking shareholders' nod for a proposed employees' share option scheme (ESOS) covering up to 10% of issued share capital for eligible directors and employees. The scheme will be valid for five years with an option for a further five-year extension.
