Malaysia's Trade Surplus Shrinks in June

Malaysia's trade surplus narrowed to 14.9 billion ringgit in June from 39.9 billion ringgit in May, according to data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia on Monday.

While the latest print missed the Trading Economics forecast of 42 billion ringgit for the month, it was still up 64.9% from a year earlier.

Total exports grew 45.4% year over year to 177.9 billion ringgit, slightly faster than the 45.3% increase in May. On a month-on-month basis, exports declined 3.2%.

Imports rose 43.9% to a record 163 billion ringgit. The pace of growth accelerated from the 14.1% increase in May. Compared with the previous month, imports declined 13.2%.

Samsung Group Brand Value Hits $97.4 Billion, Ranks Eighth Globally

The brand value of Samsung Group, the parent group of Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) and Samsung Biologics (KRX:207940), jumped 8.9% to $97.4 billion in 2026 from $89.4 billion in 2025, British consulting firm Brand Finance said in a Sunday report.The group ranked eighth in Brand Finance's ranking of top 100 tech companies globally.SK Hynix (KRX:000660) rose one place to 28th, LG Corp (KRX:003550) slipped eight spots to 44th, Coupang slipped one position to 49th, and Naver (KRX:035420) moved up five places to 95th, according to the report.Shares of Samsung Electronics fell more than 4%, while Samsung Biologics declined 3%. Shares of SK Hynix declined more than 4%, and those of Naver fell nearly 3%.
