Malaysia's retail trade sales increased 6.6% year over year to 72 billion Malaysian ringgit in June, according to data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) released on Wednesday.
The growth pace was slower than the 7.2% expansion recorded in the previous month.
The sector's performance was driven primarily by retail sales in the motor vehicles sub-sector, which expanded by 14.9%, reaching 19.7 billion ringgit. Total wholesale and retail trade sales combined reached 168.5 billion ringgit, reflecting a year-over-year increase of 10.1%.
