Liberal Party candidates won all three parliamentary by-elections held in Canada on Monday, Prime Minister Mark Carney said, allowing the government to maintain its slim majority in Parliament.
The Liberals maintained the parliamentary seats in Ontario and British Columbia, while managing to snatch one from the opposition Conservatives in Quebec. All three by-elections were a result of resignations.
The results suggest continued public support for Prime Minister Carney and the government despite the recent escalation in trade tensions with the US.
"At this consequential time for Canada, voters have placed their trust in our government's plan," posted Carney on his X account.
"Canada is being tested in a changing world, and Canadians are up for it," added Carney.
