LG Group, NVIDIA Expand Partnership to Develop Bipedal Humanoid Robot

LG Group (KRX:003550) said it has partnered with NVIDIA to develop a next-generation bipedal humanoid robot using the latter's open-reasoning humanoid Isaac GR00T foundation model, according to a Friday release.

The holding company said that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the US-based technology company on Thursday, moving its partnership from strategic planning to execution across robotics, AI factories, and mobility.

Under the partnership, LG plans a public unveiling of humanoid robots in the first quarter of next year and to test its CLOiD wheel-based robots at a washing machine manufacturing line in Tennessee, US.

US to Impose 100% Tariffs on Some Drones to Counter China

The U.S. government will impose a 100% tariff on imports of drones and their components, according to a fact sheet by the White House released Thursday.The tariffs could particularly hurt China, the world's largest drone maker, Bloomberg reported separately.The 100% rate will apply to drones with a maximum takeoff weight of more than 25 kilograms and with thermal imaging features, Washington said.The administration of President Donald Trump will also levy a 25% tariff on smaller unmanned aircraft that lack national security capabilities.Washington will also impose a 15% duty on drones and components made by the EU, Japan, Liechtenstein, South Korea, Switzerland, and Taiwan, and 10% for UK-made drones as long as their parts come from the U.S., the fact sheet showed.The tariffs will take effect 21 days after signing, while duties for non-critical drone parts will take effect after 180 days, the White House said.
