Kratos Defense & Security (KTOS) and other key drone stocks rose in Friday trading after the White House announced new tariffs on certain drones and drone components, Citrini Research said.
According to the White House Thursday, 100% tariff is imposed on drones weighing more than 25 kilograms and those with thermal imaging capabilities, while 25% is imposed on smaller drones and components, with lower rates of 10% to 15% on imports from some US allies.
The US is "rapidly moving to shore up domestic drone capabilities," Citrini said. "The admin wants the whole supply chain built at home."
This could benefit companies like Unusual Machines (UMAC), which makes National Defense Authorization Act-compliant motors, batteries, and airframes that could help US buyers avoid the new tariffs, the report said.
Unusual Machines climbed 26.4%, Kratos was up 2.5%, Red Cat (RCAT) rose 9.3%, and AeroVironment (AVAV) added 1.7% in Friday trading.
