Japanese stocks gained on easing US-Iran tensions after Iran announced to halt strikes on key US military infrastructure across the Middle East on a mutual basis, triggering a bond rally.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 closed up 320.04 points, or 0.50%, at 64,931.19.
Oil prices fell on easing tensions around key crude shipping routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, reducing energy supply concerns and easing inflation fears.
Meanwhile, media reports claimed that falling US ammunition reserves have led to the temporary ceasefire as the US dollar weakened.
On the corporate side, Japan Metropolitan Fund Investment (TYO:8953) secured a 5.35 billion yen term loan to refinance existing debt, maturing July 31, through a new syndicated loan, according to a Monday release.
Also, Toyota Motor (TYO:7203) will become a shareholder in Cellcentric following a deal with co-owners The Volvo Group and Daimler Truck, according to a Monday release.
