Japan's industrial production rose 4.9% year over year in June, according to data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) released on Monday.
The latest print follows a 2.1% decline the previous month and beat the Trading Economics forecast for 4.2% growth.
On a seasonally adjusted month-over-month basis, industrial production rose 1.9%, accelerating from the 0.1% increase recorded the previous month. It beat the consensus forecast of 1.3% tracked by Investing.com.
