Japan's industrial production rose 4.1% year over year in July, according to data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) released on Monday.
The reading beat the Trading Economics forecast for 3% growth and follows a 4.9% jump in the previous month.
Shipments rose 4.8% year over year in June, while inventories shrank 2%.
On a month-over-month basis, industrial output edged up 0.1% in July.
