Japan's producer price index (PPI) rose 6.3% year over year in May, according to preliminary data released by the Bank of Japan on Wednesday.
The reading was higher than the consensus forecast of a 5.6% increase and compared with a 5.3% rise in the previous month.
On a month-on-month basis, corporate goods prices increased 0.9% from April, decelerating from the 2.8% growth between March and April.
