Japan's core consumer price index (CPI), which excludes volatile fresh food prices, rose 1.6% year over year in June, according to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on Friday.
The latest pace of growth accelerated from the 1.4% increase in May, and was in line with the consensus forecast tracked by Investing.com.
Headline inflation likewise gathered pace to a six-month high of 1.7% from 1.5% in May.
Core-core CPI inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, decelerated to 1.7% in June from 1.8% a month ago.
