Consumer confidence in Japan improved in August, with the index measuring sentiment rising to 35.5 from 34.9 in the previous month, according to data from the Cabinet Office on Tuesday.
The latest reading beat Investing.com's forecast of 35.3.
Still, the monthly improvement was driven by stronger sentiment on overall livelihood, which rose 1.0 points from the previous month to 34.1.
Income growth fell 0.5 points from July to 40.4, employment prospects slipped 0.2 points to 39.9, and willingness to buy durable goods advanced 1.9 points to 27.5.
