India and Uzbekistan agreed to deepen economic ties by setting a bilateral trade target of $5 billion by 2030 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit to the Central Asian country, according to a statement from India's Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday.
Modi and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks in Tashkent on Sunday, covering trade and investment, innovation and startups, digital public infrastructure and UPI, defense and security, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, and critical minerals.
The two sides also agreed to hold a business summit to boost trade and investment and upgraded their strategic partnership to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, according to the statement.
