India's trade deficit narrowed to $9.41 billion in August from $15 billion a month ago, according to data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday.
The latest deficit also shrank from $11.6 billion a year earlier.
Overall merchandize and services exports rose 25.4% year over year in August to $82.68 billion, accelerating from the 13.3% growth in July, while imports jumped 18.8% to $92.09 billion, also faster than the 15.8% increase the previous month.
Goods exports alone climbed to $43.8 billion from $34.7 billion a year earlier, driven by outbound shipments of electronic goods, petroleum products, engineering goods, organic and inorganic chemicals and more.
