India's total imports of goods and services increased 19% year over year to an estimated $92.5 billion in May, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Monday.
Of the total, merchandise imports rose to $73.4 billion in May from $60.9 billion a year earlier, while services imports increased to $19.1 billion from $16.7 billion.
Total exports rose 15.8% to an estimated $82 billion, resulting in a trade deficit of $10.5 billion, compared with $6.8 billion a year earlier.
