India recorded a current account deficit of $4.2 billion in the first fiscal quarter, versus a year-ago deficit of $3.4 billion, according to data released by the Reserve Bank of India Tuesday.
Foreign direct investment rose year over to $6.1 billion from $5.2 billion. Foreign exchange reserves decreased by $8.1 billion during the quarter, compared to an accretion of $4.5 billion a year earlier.
