India's Commerce Ministry said reports claiming the country plans to import large quantities of U.S. ethanol for fuel blending are "baseless and factually incorrect," according to a Thursday press release.
The ministry said that ethanol used under the ethanol-blended-with-petrol program continues to be sourced entirely from domestic producers.
It also said no concessions or commitments on importing U.S. fuel ethanol were made during India-U.S. trade discussions, adding that the country's ethanol procurement policy remains governed solely by domestic requirements.
